How do I get a refund on my plates?
When you sell your vehicle, you must return your old plates to receive a refund as well as complete an Application for Refund. You must apply for a refund within 60 days of selling your vehicle or moving out of state. If you moved out of state and you are applying for a refund you must send a copy of the new registration to our office.
What do I need to register a new car?
Proof of insurance, title, Form 6 Nebraska Sales Tax Form if purchased from a Nebraska dealer, purchase agreement if purchased from an out of state dealer, bill of sale if purchased from an individual and copy of your security agreement if you have a loan on the vehicle. If the title is an out of state title you must have a vehicle inspection completed prior to switching the title into your name.
What vehicles need to be inspected?
All vehicles, trailer, ATVs & UTVs purchased with an out of state title except for camping trailers and all salvage vehicles.
